Hyatt Place Raleigh-Durham Airport

This was my first time staying at a Hyatt and it went really well. The room was nice and spacious, breakfast was decent, and the price was reasonable. One thing to keep in mind -not the hotel’s fault- was that because they’re near the airport the sound of airplanes was pretty loud. It woke me up a few times in the very early hours of the morning, so keep that in mind. Good stay overall.

We've stayed here nearly every year since we moved out of the area 10 years ago. This morning the buffet served half frozen sausage, off color dehy eggs, and had run out of coffee, yogurt, oatmeal, waffles, cream cheese, peanut butter, and who knows what else.. By 745a.. While having service until 930. They were not helpful and were unapologetic. One of the two elevators was broken for all but one day of our 6 day stay. The toilet wouldn't stay unclogged with only average use. The hairdryer broke. One towel had rust stains. Even though I had selected every other day room turn over when asked at online check in, none was ever received. We had to ask for more toilet paper. I understand the strain of the holidays and especially the impacts of COVID, but this was the worst hotel stay I've had this decade.

Beware of suspicious activity. My partner and I checked in around 1am to rest before proceeding with our drive home. We were placed in a room on the first floor, right by the exit and stairwell. Atleast 2-3x during the night we heard someone fiddling with our door but we did not see anyone when we looked through the peephole. We figured it was someone looking for their room. Plus, we always bring an extra lock for the hotel door, so we felt confident no one could get in. Around 8am we hear our hotel room door open and our lock hits the floor. The intruder must have had a key, but the hotel lock kept them from coming all the way in. My partner rushed to the door and there was no one in sight. We spoke to the manager who I believe is head of housekeeping. He immediately got VERY defensive. He completely disregarded our concerns for safety. He claims it was just housekeeping although we made him aware that this person did not knock on the door or announce themselves. We also saw no one, not even a housekeeping cart in the hallway. Why would housekeeping run away instead of just apologizing for the mix up? Why would they enter at 8am? Another staff member said housekeeping didn’t come in until 10a. We waited in the lobby for about 45mins for the police to arrive. Then we asked the front desk staff to send the police to our room so we could gather our things while we waited. After another hour, we called the police back. They said they came and the manager told them our issue had been resolved and it was just housekeeping. So, they left. While I hope the manager was being truthful, his demeanor and response raised my suspicion. I choose not to underestimate people when it comes to the safety of myself and my loved ones. We submitted a case to the executive leadership team via customer service and never heard back.

The hotel is nice and very convenient to the airport. This has the downside of being very very loud while planes are flying overhead. I think they could do more to insulate from the sound or at the very least, provide rear plugs to all guests. The sound of planes landing starting very early in the morning is very disruptive to my sleep.

Hotel was perfect the breakfast buffet very adequate staff was all friendly when I was dropped off at the airport the day of my departure we'll take 50-50 blame I was the last one on the shuttle bus first one off the driver gave me someone else's bag we both had a green handle on our suitcases I checked the bag without inspecting last guest out was handed my bag she was very observant she noticed right off they handed her the wrong bag the hotel sent me the email for FedEx pickup but they only paid for a 4-day delivery instead of an overnight not a number one class act from a number one class Hotel
